Silva- XPLORER 2.0 Compass
The SILVA Explorer Compass is a step up from a basic baseplate compass, giving hikers, backpackers, hunters, and backcountry travelers a few extra tools without making navigation overly complicated. Its transparent baseplate, clear markings, and DryFlex™ rubber grip make it easy to handle and use directly on a map, even when conditions aren't ideal.
Built-in 1:24k USGS and 1:62.5k map scales make the Explorer especially useful for navigating with common U.S. topo maps. A magnifying lens helps with small map details, while the declination scale inside the capsule makes adjusting your bearings easier. Luminous markings can also be activated by daylight or a flashlight for navigation after dark.
Whether you're route-finding in the San Juans, navigating hunting country, or keeping a reliable analog backup in your pack, the Explorer offers a useful combination of simplicity, durability, and backcountry functionality.
